Trying felonies is among the most serious of public trusts.
David Crain is a superlative judge. Attorneys talk about how hard he works and how late he stays. They speak of his fairness and impartiality. They appreciate that his door is usually open at the end of a long day.

Judge Crain is innovative. He pioneered and presides over Travis County’s misdemeanor mental-health docket, through which many mentally-ill offenders get treatment that helps them lead productive, law-abiding lives. As the Local Administrative Judge of our county courts (akin to Presiding Judge at the State District Court level), Judge Crain helped establish Travis County’s DWI Court.

A loyal Democrat, Judge Crain has been our party’s nominee and won election seven times—twice as Justice of the Peace and five times as Judge of Travis County Court-at-Law #3.
Judge Crain long has been interested in serving at the felony-court level, and there will be an opening next year when Judge Bob Perkins retires after 27 years of distinguished service on the 331st District Court. With two other judges also retiring from the district bench, we need Judge Crain to step up from county court to district court even more.

Over two hundred leading attorneys, including former prosecutors, defense lawyers and civil practitioners, along with numerous other citizens are supporting Judge Crain. We hope that you, too, will join us.

Trying felonies is one of the most serious responsibilities that a community can entrust to a public official. Travis County needs Judge David Crain—a proven judge for the 331st District Court.
